Take the Panthers to cover + 6 other weekend bets
The Sir Rebral Seven for NFL Week 17
It’s the penultimate week of the regular season. With the postseason practically here, I’m chomping at the bit to bring you playoff predictions every week for every game.
At the beginning of the season, I predicted the following:
Super Bowl LVIII – Start of Season
Philadelphia Eagles 26 Los Angeles Chargers 20
After 10 weeks of games, I updated my prediction:
Super Bowl LVIII – UPDATED Week 11
Philadelphia Eagles 24 Baltimore Ravens 20
Right now, I’m analyzing the last six weeks of games in preparation for an updated Super Bowl prediction heading into the postseason. But before we get carried away by playoff madness, let’s stay focused on the selects for Week 17.
(And read on for a belated recap of Week 16.)

👑SIR REBRAL SELECT🧠: CAR +7 @ JAX
Cerebral Index Rating: 98 (out of maximum 100)
Score projection: Panthers 21 Jaguars 16
Carolina has sneakily become a top 5 yardage allowed defense, and they now face a Jaguars team that has struggled to move the ball for a solid month. The Panthers offense has finally shown some life and consistency the last few weeks as well, and they match up well against a Jacksonville secondary that is amongst the worst in the league. There is no way this Jaguars team deserves this many points. Take the Panthers to cover, and don’t be surprised if they win the game!
✅SIR REBRAL SELECT: CLE -7.5 v NYJ
Cerebral Index Rating: 98
Score projection: Browns 23 Jets 6
The Browns defense has been other worldly at home this year, dominant to a record setting degree. I can’t think of a better team for them to absolutely gobble up this week than the Jets, who are usually a good bet to be a disaster on the offensive line and a disaster at quarterback. The Browns are motivated to clinch their playoff berth, so I like them to cover this spread easily tonight.

The Sir Rebral Seven – Week 16
✅SIR REBRAL SELECT: TEN +3.5 v SEA
Final Score: Seahawks 20 Titans 17
This game had low scoring tossup written all over it, and that’s what we got. Tennessee was in control most of the game, until the Seahawks finished off a game winning touchdown drive to steal it on the road. Thankfully Tennessee still covered, but they showed that they were the right bet by out-gaining the Seahawks in yardage.
✅ SIR REBRAL SELECT: TB -2 v JAX
Final Score: Buccaneers 30 Jaguars 12
A slam dunk bet! The Jaguars are a broken team right now, and the Buccaneers led the entire way in a game that was never competitive. The Jaguars are playing badly on both sides of the ball for what is now a month, and they are in big trouble.
❌SIR REBRAL SELECT: IND +2.5 @ ATL
Final Score: Falcons 29 Colts 10
Any team, any Sunday. Somehow, some way, the Falcons defensive line showed up and dominated the Colts offensive line. Big head scratcher!
❌SIR REBRAL SELECT: HOU +3 v CLE
Final Score: Browns 36 Texans 22
For the first time all year, the Browns defense came to play on the road. But moreover, the Joe Flacco show continued for Cleveland, and somehow Amari Cooper caught 265 yards worth of passes en route to a blowout and eventually a shootout. Unfortunately for me, I keep picking the wacky games of the week.
❌❌SIR REBRAL SELECT: DET MIN UNDER 47.5, MIN +3
Final Score: Lions 30 Vikings 24
The Vikings could have easily won this game if Nick Mullens hadn’t thrown FOUR interceptions! They threw for over 400 yards of offense, but the turnovers and their defense failing to stop Detroit enough did them in. I was expecting a bit more out of the Vikings defense, but the Lions were able to manufacture plenty of yards themselves, and didn’t punt much!
❌SIR REBRAL SELECT: LV KC OVER 41
Final Score: Raiders 20 Chiefs 14
One of the worst selections of the year was on display right here, as there were two defensive touchdowns in the second quarter, and it still didn’t go over. All offense came to a halt in this game, as the Raiders didn’t complete a single pass after the 1st quarter, and neither team came anywhere close to 300 yards of offense. Without the defensive touchdowns, the Chiefs win 14-6.
🙅♂️SIR REBRAL STAY AWAY🙅♂️: CIN -2.5 @ PIT
Don’t touch this spread!
Final score: Steelers 34 Bengals 11
This was one of the wacky games of the week, as the Steelers got 2 extremely long touchdown passes, and got some timely turnovers en route to a blowout at home. Usually I would bet against a 3rd string quarterback in his first start, which would lead me to have bet the Bengals -2.5, but based on their previous game a month ago, I had suspicions that Pittsburgh might have their number. Good thing I didn’t bet on Cincy!
